Lemon Verbena Tea

How to make lemon verbena tea
Ingredients
- Dried ( one to two teaspoons) or fresh ( half teaspoon) lemon verbena leaves
- Boiling Water (One cup)
- Honey (optional)
Directions
- Put the leaves into a cup of boiling water.
- Steep it for approximately five minutes
- Add honey for a sweeter flavor
- Strain the mixture and drink it hot
You can even mix half cup of mint and lemon verbena leaves together, put them into two cups of boiling water, steep them for three to five minutes, and finally strain the mixture to get a refreshing cup of lemon verbena-mint tea. To make the ice tea you can put ice over the infusion after it has cooled completely. A few chunks of an unpeeled ginger added with the lemon verbena leaves forms lemon verbena ginger tea.

Side effects
Though lemon verbena tea does not have any known side effects, overconsumption may result in nausea, vomiting or other health hazards. Drinking it in excessive amount might also be harmful to the kidney, resulting in stones. If you seem to have skin irritations or allergies after its consumption, stop it right away and talk to your doctor at the earliest.
During pregnancy
Lemon verbena is said to possess labor inducing properties. Thus, pregnant women should refrain from drinking it.
Though it is said to increase the milk flow, lactating mothers should consult a health care provider before drinking it.
